This is where sophisticated progressive rock meets jazz elements, classic rock and subtle pop influences – all delivered at the very highest level. Before the band sets sail for the Caribbean in 2026 to appear on the renowned prog cruise Cruise To The Edge, Lifesigns will be touring Europe for a handful of select dates. In their luggage: songs from their three studio albums to date, as well as brand-new material from their upcoming fourth album, which is set to be released shortly before the tour.

Lifesigns is the brainchild of John Young. As lead singer and keyboardist, he also composes the music, writes the lyrics and retains full creative control over the release of his work. To realise his compositions perfectly both in the studio and on stage, he surrounds himself with some of the most accomplished musicians on the scene. Despite having released “only” three studio albums and two live albums since their formation – and despite their rare appearances on mainland European stages – the band’s sophisticated, lyrical and dynamic progressive rock has steadily built a devoted following over the years. With three distinctly different yet equally outstanding studio albums, Lifesigns have set the bar remarkably high.
Reviewing the 2017 album Cardington, betreutesproggen.de wrote: “Overall, ‘Cardington’ is highly convincing, offering a small firework of melodies that unfolds somewhere between neo prog, AOR and mature pop, and lingers in the ear. Too straightforward for fans of overly intricate prog, yet far too cleverly composed and arranged for simple pop/rock.”
With their third album Altitude, the band continued to refine their magical blend of prog dynamics and strong melodies. Stone-Prog.de concluded:
“‘Altitude’ is a wonderful album – touching, lyrical, varied and progressive.”
Progcharts.com added: “Particularly noteworthy is the addition of Dave Bainbridge on lead guitar. His guitar work truly shines on this album, especially on ‘Last One Home’. You know that goosebump-inducing feeling when you hear Gilmour play the crescendo of ‘Comfortably Numb’…”
The final verdict was clear: “If you don’t know Lifesigns yet, it’s time to change that.”

Band Lineup
John Young (Asia, Scorpions, Bonnie Tyler) – vocals & keys
Dave Bainbridge (Iona, Strawbs, Celestial Fire, Circuline) – guitar & keys
Jon Poole (Cardiacs, Dr Hook) – bass & backing vocals
Frank van Essen (Iona) – drums, viola & vocals
Sound engineer: Steve Rispin

MAGICAL PROG MOMENTS Formed in 2008, Lifesigns proudly fly the banner of “Independent Modern Prog and Classic Rock”.
