VINTAGE GUITAR MEETS DOUBLE BASS

Eric Steckel is setting new standards. Vintage guitar meets double bass drums, blues collides with rock and metal – and what this man coaxes out of his six strings is truly out of this world. Steckel’s “21st Century Guitar-Driven Blues” is virtually unmatched in terms of feel and intensity. October 15, 2025 is an absolute must for blues fans, rockers and blues-metal heads alike!

At a time when pedalboards, laptops and samples have become the norm, Californian guitarist Eric Steckel swims against the tide, reminding us of the days when guitars were played loud through great amplifiers. Hailed by many as the biggest rising star of blues rock, Eric delivers powerful, passionate performances on a regular basis, captivating audiences around the globe. Very few young guitarists can boast a résumé as impressive as Eric Steckel’s. His debut album A Few Degrees Warmer was recorded live in April 2002 – when he was just eleven years old. It didn’t take long before Eric appeared at the Sarasota Blues Festival, where his performance quickly became the talk of the day. Before the night was over, the newcomer was introduced by British blues-rock legend John Mayall as the youngest guitarist ever to take the stage with his Bluesbreakers. Steckel is a gifted musician who will sometimes record an album almost entirely on his own, handling piano, organ, bass, guitars, vocals and production duties in the studio. Now armed with more than 20 years of stage and studio experience, Eric continues to deliver his signature blend of rock, blues and blues metal to guitar lovers in over 25 countries worldwide – and counting. Most recently, he released the songs Barrel Of A Gun and Hold Your Fire in the summer of 2024. YouTube users were overflowing with praise: “These riffs, these solos, the groove and the feel, the killer guitar sound, that insane voice, the unbelievable energy… and on top of that, this rare combination of blues with double bass drums,” wrote one enthusiastic fan about Hold Your Fire. Another added: “Now that’s what I call a tight three-piece. Steckel takes us back to the golden era of legendary power trios like early Cream, Mountain, James Gang or ZZ Top. And when it comes to guitar work, he can easily hold his own with the very best.” We are absolutely thrilled to welcome this exceptional musician and his outstanding band to Z7.
