About Us

History

Since 1994, Z7 in Pratteln near Basel has stood for first-class live concerts. What may appear unassuming from the outside reveals itself inside as one of Europe’s most renowned concert venues. Visitors travel to Pratteln from a radius of up to 250 kilometres to experience concerts that resonate far beyond the region.

Each year, the Z7 association organises around 100 events, offering the tri-border region and all of Switzerland a carefully curated programme featuring international top acts and key artists from the scene. The focus is consistently on live music, proximity to the stage and an atmosphere equally appreciated by fans and artists alike.

The former warehouse was converted into a concert venue in 1994. Since then, around 4,000 concerts have taken place at Z7, attracting well over one million visitors. The venue accommodates up to 1,600 people and stands out for its high-end sound and lighting technology, which is second to none in Switzerland.

In addition to concerts in Pratteln, Z7 regularly organises open-air shows and events throughout the region. Despite its international reputation, one thing has always remained unchanged: the aim to deliver the highest possible concert quality in an environment that feels familiar, personal and authentic.

Locations

Mini Z7

Kraftwerkstrasse 7
4133 Pratteln

Since its founding, Z7 has also provided a stage for smaller and emerging acts. To create the right setting for these concerts, Mini Z7 was launched in 2013.

For Mini Z7 events, the main Z7 hall is reduced to a capacity of around 400 people using flexible partition walls. This creates a dedicated, separate stage equipped with professional sound and lighting technology – perfectly tailored to smaller formats and maximum closeness between audience and artists.

Carpets, tables, chairs, stools and plants are deliberately used to create a stripped-back, warm club atmosphere. The result is an intimate concert experience where the music takes centre stage and the distance between stage and audience almost disappears.

Z7 Summer Nights Open Air

Kraftwerkstrasse 7
4133 Pratteln

Open-air concerts in front of the concert factory Z7 have a long tradition. Even during the legendary Metal Days, the area outside Z7 was already rocking under the open sky. At the latest, after unforgettable summer evenings – such as when Billy Idol filled the night sky over Pratteln in 2014 – it was clear: Z7 knows how to do open air.

Since 2015, selected concerts have taken place under the name Z7 Summer Nights. Throughout the summer months, international top acts and leading scene artists deliver intense live experiences outdoors, directly in front of the Z7 hall. The site combines festival flair with the unmistakable Z7 vibe.

Z7 Summer Nights stand for warm evenings, short distances, uncompromising live quality and an atmosphere you can’t plan – only experience. When summer arrives, Z7 moves outside.

Augusta Raurica – Live In Concert

Giebenacherstrasse 17
4302 Augst

The Roman Theatre of Augusta Raurica is one of the best-preserved ancient open-air theatres north of the Alps and has been a special open-air venue for Z7 for many years. Surrounded by historic walls, live music and history come together to create an atmosphere of exceptional intensity.

With around 1,600 seats arranged in a semi-circle, the theatre offers a concert experience far beyond the ordinary. As the sun slowly disappears behind the horizon and the music fills the millennia-old stone walls, a truly unique atmosphere unfolds.

The interplay of history, space and live sound gives each concert a special depth – making Augusta Raurica – Live In Concert an experience that resonates long after the final note.
