EISHEILIGE NACHT 2025: ROGUES AND FOOLS
It has become a cherished tradition that Subway To Sally close out their concert year with Eisheilige Nacht. In 2025, the Potsdam-based septet once again invites fans to a tour spanning nine venues in Germany and one exclusive show in Switzerland. Joined by co-headliners Schandmaul, the high-spirited crowd-pleasers Haggefugg and breakout newcomers Kupfergold, Eisheilige Nacht 2025 will once again be a musical firework display. The contemplative Advent mood won’t stand a chance against the instant surge of exuberant party vibes. No eye – and certainly no throat – will remain dry. After all, there’s also a special anniversary to celebrate: 33 years of Subway To Sally. Cheers!
Subway to Sally have for many years been at the forefront of the German folk metal scene. Founded in 1992, the Potsdam-based septet quickly built a devoted fan base through countless live shows and strong album releases. Today, the seven musicians regularly thrill tens of thousands of fans across the entire German-speaking world. The band’s trademark sound blends rock and metal with medieval melodies and instruments, giving them a distinctive and unmistakable character. With their latest studio album Post Mortem, released in December 2024, Subway to Sally impressively proved that those pronounced dead often live the longest. Its predecessor Himmelfahrt was originally – as the band had secretly planned – meant to be the final album of their more than three-decade-long career. But things turned out differently. The release of Post Mortem sparked a newfound lightness and an infectious enthusiasm that was clearly felt by everyone involved. Once again, Subway to Sally struck a chord with the times. The response was overwhelming: the album entered the Top Ten of the charts, and after a tour that sold out in many places, it became clear that their 14th album could not have been the final chapter. And so we are already looking forward to the next Eisheilige Nacht at Z7, when Subway to Sally will take the stage with a powerful mix of classics and songs from their acclaimed current album, once again proving why they have been regarded as a defining force in folk metal for decades. Eisheilige Nacht 2025 promises to be more than just a concert – it will be a feast for the senses, a reunion among friends and a rousing end to the year. Cast off the lines and full speed ahead into an unforgettable concert experience with rogues and fools.
Schandmaul: “With great joy and respect,” the hosts Subway To Sally welcome the lively minstrels of Schandmaul as co-headliners of Eisheilige Nacht this year. The Munich masters of folk rock will once again captivate fans with their unique blend of classic rock and medieval instruments. After a difficult phase in the band’s history, during which singer Thomas Lindner had to step back following a cancer diagnosis, Schandmaul returned to the stage in 2024 with their frontman and renewed passion and energy. In the world of medieval rock, Schandmaul are something like a grand Saturday-night show: a long-running favourite for 27 years, full of rituals, exciting interludes and a free-spirited entertainer at the helm. The band delivers spectacle for the whole family – whether young punk, folk freak, goth girl or old-school rocker, everyone feels at home with the formation led by master of ceremonies Lindner. Their concerts are guaranteed to provide thrilling live entertainment at the highest level. And even after nearly three decades, Schandmaul’s shows are still full of surprises. Packed with life-affirming folk, thunderous rock and magical medieval sounds, what belongs together truly comes together here. Audience and band merge into one, creating unforgettable moments. We are very much looking forward to seeing Schandmaul again and are certain that with their many hits and current crowd-pleasers, they will turn Eisheilige Nacht 2025 into an absolute highlight of this beloved annual concert series.
Kupfergold: They describe themselves on their website as “polite and modest, lovable and well-mannered” and are widely regarded as “the hottest thing in the medieval scene”: Bonnie Banks, Eric Rhymes, Bummbummbasti and Kai der Hai – collectively known as Kupfergold – are the genre’s breakout newcomer sensation. With catchy melodies, charismatic stage presence and a healthy dose of humour, the band from the Rhineland has captured fans’ hearts in no time. Regular appearances on the German medieval and role-playing scene, as well as online concerts, steadily increased the visibility of the band founded in 2018. Their second album Lichtermeer (2024) was followed by their first headliner tour, as well as summer appearances at Wacken Open Air, Summerbreeze and other major rock festivals. The band’s name derives from the hair colours of Bonnie and Eric, who had already been performing together under this name since 2010 and composing their first songs as a duo. Musically, Kupfergold sit somewhere between folk rock and folk pop – a genre they affectionately describe themselves as “Assi-Folk”. Audiences can definitely expect a show that presents the band in all its facets. In other words: “More party, more drama, more nonsense – in short: more Kupfergold.”
Haggefugg: “We are Haggefugg – and when we celebrate, you’re invited! We’re known across the land for exuberant concerts, a fresh breeze in the medieval rock scene and relentless optimism,” reads the band’s website. The Rhineland-based mood-makers bring the perfect market-square atmosphere to concert halls with their distinctive bagpipe parts and feel-good hits. With their animated take on medieval rock, they create exuberant party vibes and incomparable fun. “Ten Years of Unfugg” is the tour motto of the band founded in Cologne in 2015. Reviewing their current album Tanz und Gloria, a critic from Metal.de wrote: “Tanz Und Gloria is built on a solid production, and the band’s joy of playing and power quickly jump over to the listener. The name says it all – the music makes sure nobody stands still for long. On Tanz Und Gloria, Haggefugg present consistently well-played rock music, spiced up with bagpipe sounds.” Fans of Saltatio Mortis are guaranteed to feel right at home here.
