Majestica: The Swedish symphonic power metal band are back at full speed with their new album Power Train (February 2025) and songs like “Battle Cry”, “A Story In The Night” and the title track. This thrilling musical journey is driven by powerful riffs and epic choirs, transporting listeners straight into the heart of a vibrant fantasy world. Back in 2019, Majestica made a lasting impression on the metal community with their debut album Above The Sky, which amassed over 17 million streams thanks to its signature blend of catchy melodies and powerful instrumental passages, firmly establishing the band in the scene. In 2020, Majestica delighted fans with the orchestral power metal musical A Christmas Carol, a captivating reinterpretation of the classic holiday tale. Speaking about the new album, band mastermind Tommy Johansson says: “Power Train is an explosive and highly melodic power metal album with tons of catchy melodies, epic guitar solos, strong vocals and heavy drum sounds.” The album features ten tracks delivering everything fans expect from Majestica. Johansson adds: “We combined the melodies and power metal elements of our first album with some of the choir and orchestral arrangements from the last one – the perfect combination.”
Arion: Early in their career, Arion followed in the footsteps of fellow Finns Lordi and took part in Finland’s Eurovision Song Contest selection in 2013 with the song “Lost”. Major success didn’t come at the time, but the band continued their path undeterred. Now on their fourth album, Arion have carved out a distinctive position within the crowded melodic metal scene. With outstanding musical skill and refined, tasteful songwriting, the young band brings a fresh edge to melodic metal. On The Light That Burns The Sky, the ingredients remain familiar: bombast, technical prowess and a finely balanced mix of power and symphonic metal. Vocalist Lassi Vääränen delivers with his usual confidence, while guitarist Iivo Kaipainen once again showcases his talent for anthemic riffs and melodic solos. Metal.de sums it up perfectly: even if the storm-and-stress era of Finnish metal seems to be over, Arion prove that a breath of fresh air still benefits the established scene. Without reinventing the wheel, the band ignores genre boundaries with youthful grit, channeling the strengths of their compatriots Thunderstone into a more modern direction.
