Molly Hatchet

SOUTHERN ROCK LEGENDS

Yeehaw – Molly Hatchet are back! This band has been flying the flag for southern rock for almost five decades. In December 2024, Molly Hatchet will be back on the Z7 stage to perform classics such as “Whiskey Man”, “Bounty Hunter”, “Gator Country”, “Fall Of The Peacemakers”, “Devil’s Canyon”, “Beatin The Odds” and “Flirtin With Disaster” as well as brand new songs from their first studio album in 14 years.

With “Firing Line”, Molly Hatchet released their first new track in 13 years in November 2023. With this number, fresh-faced frontman Parker Lee shows that his voice can easily carry on the tradition of great Molly Hatchet frontmen. In December 2023, the band introduced the new singer to the Swiss audience for the first time at Z7. And the up-and-coming rocker delivered an inspiring show. Even as a child, Parker literally soaked up the songs of Molly Hatchet: “When my father drove me to school, we listened to Molly Hatchet’s ‘Greatest Hits’ in the car. I loved it. And now to be on stage with these legends and perform these songs is a dream come true,” he said at last year’s show in Pratteln. He first came into contact with the band when he phoned Bobby Ingram to arrange shows for his own band as Molly Hatchet’s support act. The spark between the two musicians was ignited from the very first conversation. Ingram: “I loved the story of how he got to know our songs as a kid in his father’s car. It shows that he’s loved Southern rock since he was a kid.” Molly Hatchet were currently looking for a new singer and so Ingram invited his young colleague over to jam a few numbers together. “In the end, we played through the whole set. He stood there in his shorts, barefoot, and started singing. It was magical,” recalls Ingram. Shortly afterwards, he was also tested live: “When we saw him on stage for the first time, we could hardly believe it. The spark was immediate. It was fantastic to experience something like that again after all these years.” So the band decided to go into the studio with him. And it was to be a very special one: Under the direction of Chris Bolster (Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters, Elton John) and Lucy Launder and Alex Wharton (Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones), the new album long awaited by the fans was recorded in London’s Abbey Road Studios, a place steeped in music history. The first released track “Firing Line” has already made it clear that the band is still ready to create timeless southern rock tunes. The first studio album in 14 years will finally be released in the fall. Shortly afterwards, Molly Hatchet will be back on stage with the new material and various band classics.

This is the catch-up date for the postponed concert on 20.05.2025.
