DELAIN LIKE NEVER BEFORE
DELAIN are opening an entirely new chapter in 2027. Following the departure of singer Diana Leah, the band will move forward with a high-calibre ensemble of rotating vocalists and guest musicians. The single “We Are Fire” offers a first taste of this new era. On 7 February, the extraordinary live concept comes to Z7 with Marko Hietala, Fabienne Erni and further guests. Infected Rain will join as special guest, with Persefone as support.
Over more than two decades, DELAIN have established themselves as a major force in modern melodic metal. Since their debut album “Lucidity”, the band have stood for a distinctive blend of catchy melodies, orchestral arrangements and powerful guitars. Albums such as “April Rain”, “We Are the Others” and “The Human Contradiction” have shaped this journey, while “Dark Waters” (2023) marked their biggest success to date with Top 10 positions in Germany and the US Hard Music Charts. At the heart of the band is mastermind Martijn Westerholt, who founded DELAIN after leaving Within Temptation and has continued to develop the project ever since.
Now, a fundamental change is underway: following the departure of singer Diana Leah, the position behind the microphone will no longer be permanently filled. Instead, Westerholt is opening up the band to a wide range of renowned artists, each bringing their own musical strengths and personalities. Contributors to this new era include Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), Anneke van Giersbergen, Fabienne Erni (Eluveitie) and former Nightwish singer Marko Hietala.
The brand-new single “We Are Fire”, featuring Fabienne Erni, Noa Gruman and Paolo Ribaldini, offers the first glimpse of where this musical journey is heading. Further collaborative recordings are already in the works. On the February 2027 tour, Marko Hietala will be joined on stage with DELAIN by Fabienne Erni, Patty Gurdy, Noa Gruman and Paolo Ribaldini. The renewed collaboration with Hietala, who already contributed to some of the most defining songs in the band’s history, is sure to be one of the major highlights.
With Moldovan modern metallers Infected Rain and Andorran progressive metallers Persefone completing the extraordinary concert package, an exciting new beginning awaits – and we will get to experience it up close at Z7 on 7 February.
