50 YEARS OF SAGA: MUSIC FOR GENERATIONS

“The Generations Tour 2027” brings tireless Canadian neo-prog legends SAGA back to Z7 once again. The band around founding members Michael Sadler (vocals, keyboards) and Ian Crichton (guitar), together with longtime keyboardist Jim Gilmour, have lost none of their fascination over the years and will celebrate their milestone anniversary with us, performing the finest songs from half a century of SAGA.

Canadian rock band SAGA was formed in Oakville, Ontario, in 1977. Ever since, the group has delivered an unmistakable blend of melodic prog rock, complex synthesizer arrangements and distinctive guitar riffs. With their self-titled debut album in 1978, followed by “Images At Twilight” (1979) and “Silent Knight” (1980), SAGA introduced themselves to music fans around the world. Their major breakthrough came with “Worlds Apart” (1981), an album certified gold in both the US and Germany that produced the radio and MTV hits “On The Loose” and “Wind Him Up”. This wave of success earned the band a Juno Award in their home country in 1982 in the category “Most Promising Group of the Year”. Subsequent albums such as “Heads or Tales” (1983) delivered further hits including “The Flyer”. The band largely maintained its prolific release schedule and can now look back on 22 studio albums as well as numerous live albums and compilations. Over the years, SAGA also created the 16-part Chapter series, an ambitious conceptual sci-fi song cycle that unfolded in loose order across many years and albums before the pieces of the puzzle were finally brought together on “The Chapters Live”.

SAGA have sold more than ten million albums worldwide, received numerous gold and platinum awards and toured extensively – particularly in Europe, where their music continues to appear regularly in the charts and is celebrated in concert halls to this day. The band’s passionate fan community also remains highly active online and warmly welcomes new members.
