HARD ROCK IN PURPLE

They are certainly no strangers to Z7 anymore: Following their acclaimed concerts of recent years, Strange Kind of Women return to Pratteln once again in 2027. The world’s only all-female Deep Purple tribute band brings the magic of the British hard rock legends back to our stage with impressive authenticity, outstanding musicianship and an irrepressible joy of playing.

Few tribute bands manage to truly come close to their idols in both sound and performance. Strange Kind of Women do an outstanding job and have earned high praise from fans and critics alike. Even Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice himself has experienced what these rock ladies are capable of. At a concert in Graz, he couldn’t resist joining Strange Kind of Women on stage for a jam. Afterwards, he said: “It’s really great fun playing with them. They do a fantastic job, have a great sound and simply give it everything on stage. I really enjoyed performing with them.” The members of the band are all professional musicians who have already enjoyed success with various other projects. Band leader and guitarist Eliana Cargnelutti is regarded as one of the great hopes of the Italian blues rock scene. Italian-Canadian singer Victoria Moro aka Ronnie Grace takes on the role of frontwoman. They are joined by Chiara Cotugno (drums), Margherita Gruden (Hammond, keys) and Paola Zadra (bass). When Deep Purple helped shape the hard rock scene of the 1970s with songs such as “Highway Star”, “Child In Time” and “Smoke On The Water”, the five musicians had not even been born. Today, they express their love for this music through passionate live performances, offering a thrilling impression of the work of this iconic rock band. SKOW first took to the Z7 stage in September 2024 and have since become welcome regulars at our venue. Following their very first appearance, our house chroniclers diebuehrers.com enthusiastically reported: “The five power women not only brought the legendary sounds of Deep Purple to the stage, but also the atmosphere of a time when rock was still raw and untamed.” And further: “Strange Kind of Women delivered a tribute that not only honoured the songs of Deep Purple, but reflected their energy and soul with incredible authenticity.” The perfect conditions, then, for another concentrated dose of Deep Purple – made in Italy.
