THE RETURN OF PROGRESSIVE POETRY
The French band Lazuli are among the most fascinating acts on the European prog rock scene. With their unique blend of progressive rock, chanson, folk and world music, the five musicians create a sonic universe that is both mystical and powerful. On their upcoming tour, they present their new album Être et ne plus être – once again proving that true musical magic cannot be confined to neat categories.
Anyone who has experienced Lazuli live has fallen under their musical spell. Their sound combines lyrical melodies, powerful percussion and finely crafted textures into a captivating whole, where the boundaries between progressive rock, world music and French chanson blur. The result is a poetic, intense and deeply emotional musical language that defies classification – comparisons such as “King Crimson meets Peter Gabriel” barely scratch the surface of this band’s creative range. A key element of their magic lies in their instrumentation: alongside marimba and vibraphone, rarely found on rock stages, it is above all the band’s self-developed “Leode” – a unique string instrument that exists only once worldwide – that gives Lazuli their unmistakable voice. This fusion of craftsmanship and innovation expands the spectrum of prog rock into entirely new sonic dimensions, where organic warmth and futuristic sounds intertwine. Their new album Être et ne plus être (“To Be and No Longer Be”), released on 30 January 2026, forms the artistic core of the upcoming tour. True to Lazuli tradition, it is more than just a collection of songs – it is a journey through light and darkness, doubt and euphoria, a musical reflection of life itself. The band describes the creative process as a chaos of emotions and inspiration from which twelve pieces emerged – “a bit of organised noise, interrupted by sighs and silence”. With this blend of depth, experimental spirit and dedication, Lazuli have grown from an insider tip into a firmly established force within the European prog rock scene. Their concerts captivate audiences and critics alike, and those who surrender to their music are rewarded with a truly unique experience – a sonic journey between dream and reality, intellect and emotion.
