50 Years of Pendragon:
NEO-PROG LEGENDS WITH A NEW ALBUM
Pendragon, the kings of melodic neo-prog, will embark on a European tour in October 2027. Mastermind Nick Barrett and his band will present their new album “Go Your Way” (due for release in September) alongside many classics from their wonderfully atmospheric prog rock world. Opening the evening will be an acoustic set by brilliant multi-instrumentalist Peter Jones, aka Tiger Moth Tales.
Two years after their acclaimed performance at Z7, Pendragon return to our venue with their new album “Go Your Way”. The band around singer, guitarist and songwriter Nick Barrett began its musical journey 50 years ago in the English county of Gloucestershire. In the early 1980s, the band was booked for a tour with the up-and-coming Marillion. The two bands got along extremely well and further tours followed, allowing Pendragon to steadily expand their fanbase in the wake of Marillion’s rapid rise. In 1983, they eventually performed in front of more than 30,000 enthusiastic fans at the legendary Reading Festival and recorded a session for the popular BBC radio programme Tommy Vance’s Rock Show.
Further milestones in the band’s history included the founding of their own label, Toff Records, in 1987 and the release of the 1996 album “The Masquerade Overture”, which sold more than 90,000 copies. Over the years, Pendragon have cemented their position as one of Britain’s leading progressive rock bands with a consistently high-quality catalogue. They have toured regularly around the world, travelling as far as South America, the USA, Canada and Japan and playing sold-out shows.
Pendragon’s back catalogue now comprises 16 studio albums as well as numerous live and best-of releases. Their 17th studio album will be released in September 2027, followed by a European tour in October. Celebrating both the new album and 50 years of Pendragon, the tour will also bring the band back to Z7. Following their last show in 2025, diebuehrers.com wrote: “Every song was received and enjoyed by the fans with palpable enthusiasm, and the atmosphere at the Konzertfabrik was marked by a deep immersion in this timeless music. Pendragon impressively proved that even after almost five decades of band history, they have lost none of their magic.”
Tiger Moth Tales: Whether guitars, keyboards, drums or wind instruments – Peter Jones can seemingly play them all. The blind musician and songwriter from Nottinghamshire is involved in a wide variety of musical projects. He has made his mark with Red Bazar and Cyan, is active with Camel and The Bardic Depths, can be heard on Haken’s latest EP and is celebrated for his solo project Tiger Moth Tales. Whatever the Brit turns his hand to is always accomplished and, both compositionally and musically, often unusual and emotionally captivating. Especially live, his modest personality and generous sense of humour add a special dimension to his music. His lyrics explore deeply personal thoughts and fears, but also a world constantly changing through technology, politics and difficult circumstances. Despite all the melancholy, Jones always manages to bring moments of musical light into his work. Most recently, he released the live album “A Visit To Münchwald 2026” on Bandcamp. Anyone with a passion for 70s prog and a healthy appreciation of British humour will be thoroughly entertained by the acoustic show of the one-man project Tiger Moth Tales.
