MELODIC ROCK AND PROG ANTHEMS

For almost forty years, the Canadian rockers Mystery have been elegantly blending AOR and melodic rock with neo-prog drama into a first-class, deeply emotional sound. After a long six-year absence, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Michel St-Père finally returns to Z7 with his fantastic band in autumn 2025. And there is something to celebrate: the upcoming tour revolves entirely around Delusion Rain. The album that marked the debut of the current line-up is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

Alongside Saga and Rush, Mystery form the third pillar of Canada’s top-tier prog rock league. Founded in 1986, the band took a few years to find its sound, but the line-up led by the accomplished multi-instrumentalist and label owner Michel St-Père and charismatic frontman Jean Pageau has long since carved out a niche that continues to attract a growing audience. Mystery celebrate an epic, melodic prog rock style – largely dreamy, with expansive guitar work. Music like a landscape: vast and mystical, calming yet instantly captivating. For nearly four decades, Mystery’s compositions have been stirring deep emotions. This is largely due to the band’s ability to deliver high-quality, consensus-driven symphonic rock that effortlessly combines AOR, melodic rock, tender moments, prog elements, neo-prog drama and atmospheric instrumental passages. On the Delusion Rain – 10th Anniversary Tour, the band’s sixth studio album will once again be celebrated in style. Following a major line-up change in 2014, it was the first album to feature all members of the current formation. Keyboardist Antoine Michaud, who officially joined the band in 2016, can also be heard as a guest musician on guitar. Naturally, Delusion Rain delivers all the classic Mystery trademarks: from punchy rock songs and emotional ballads to monumental prog anthems. Yet Mystery never lose themselves in individual virtuosity – their focus is always on the bigger picture, and that is the song.
