Strange Kind Of Women

The Female European Homage To Deep Purple

The Wise Fools

DEEP PURPLE – MADE IN ITALY

Anyone who saw Strange Kind of Women on the Z7 stage in September 2024 won’t want to miss their year-end show in 2025. On December 28, the world’s only all-female Deep Purple tribute band will once again bring the magic of the British hard rock legends to Pratteln – extremely authentic and bursting with infectious joy of playing.

Only a handful of tribute bands truly manage to come close to their idols in both sound and show. Strange Kind of Women deliver outstanding work that has earned them high praise from fans and critics alike. Even Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice experienced their quality first-hand. At a concert in Graz, he joined Strange Kind of Women on stage for a jam. Afterwards, he said: “It’s really great fun playing with them. They do a fantastic job, have a great sound and give absolutely everything on stage. I really enjoyed the performance together.” The members of the band are all professional musicians who have already celebrated success with other projects in their home country. Band leader and guitarist Eliana Cargnelutti is considered one of the great new hopes of the Italian blues-rock scene. Frontwoman duties are handled by Italo-Canadian singer Victoria Moro, also known as Ronnie Grace. They are joined by Chiara Cotugno (drums), Margherita Gruden (Hammond, keys) and Paola Zadra (bass).
When Deep Purple helped shape the hard rock scene in the 1970s with songs like Highway Star, Child In Time or Smoke On The Water, the five musicians of Strange Kind of Women hadn’t even been born yet. But for several years now, they have been living their passion for this music through intense and heartfelt stage performances, conveying an authentic impression of the work of the iconic rock band founded in London in 1968. Last autumn, SKOW appeared on the Z7 stage for the first time. Our in-house chroniclers at diebuehrers.com reported enthusiastically: “The five power women didn’t just bring the legendary sounds of Deep Purple to the stage, but also the atmosphere of a time when rock was still raw and untamed,” adding: “Strange Kind of Women delivered a tribute that not only honoured Deep Purple’s songs, but also captured their energy and soul with remarkable authenticity. Fans who missed this opportunity should definitely keep an eye on Strange Kind of Women!”
The next chance to catch up – or to once again surrender to the band’s spell at Z7 – comes on December 28. Until then, we highly recommend watching (and above all listening to) the new video for Soldier of Fortune or Mistreated from last year’s Z7 show. Goosebumps guaranteed!
